(This is the post we drafted on August 3, 2018, when Facebook was beginning to toss out roadblocks to our timeline, in its campaign of daily threats to shut down our fan page by August 28. Despite our efforts to comply with their demands – on at least 6 attempts – the threats have continued so, we will delete that page by the end of the month, unless Facebook turns us off on schedule sooner.
This website will continue to function, at least until next Spring, unless someone else takes over sooner. The Facebook timeline will not.
Please stay in touch! You may continue sending those adorable photos of your pets to our e-mail address: email@example.com . We will continue to collect them, along with the 10,000 – 12,000 you’ve already sent, and one day maybe we’ll find a more user-friendly forum where we can begin re-publishing them again.)
Thanks for making our day, for the past 49 months – Jim McCarthy
(August 3, 2018): “In no particular order, these are the 8 posts that would normally appear on the “Shihtzumania” Facebook timeline for August 6, 2018. If you would like to comment, or to submit photos of your Shih Tzu, please e-mail them to “firstname.lastname@example.org.”
We have resorted to this method of grouping our 8-daily Facebook posts because Facebook has apparently removed the ability to schedule posts in advance, and we have no other means of posting every 3 hours, as our “one-man” operation (who is an octogenarian, at that) has done for the past 4 years.
This doesn’t restore your ability to “like” these photos, or to add comments, or your own photos, in the “Comments” section but you can still e-mail those to us.
In those past 4 years, you have blessed us with somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 of your favorite photos, all of which we intended to
post on the Facebook timeline at the rate of up to 8-per-day (every 3 hours, 24/7). Recently, we reduced our backlog from 12 months to 9 months, and were working on improving even that but if Facebook will not allow scheduling in advance, the best we might do is maybe 1 or two daily. We believe that is good reason to either transfer the project to someone a lot younger, or someone with a staff of helpers, or just shut it down altogether.
In the latter case I would miss you all terribly – you have become a large part of my daily routine, and I’ve learned to share your joys and sorrows as my own.
As of this date (Friday,August 3, 2018) I have scheduled the 10:00 a.m. “videos” only through August 15, and the remaining 7 photos (to make up the daily 8 posts) only for Saturday and Sunday, August 4 & 5 so, as of now, no scheduled posts might appear after the 15th, and only the one daily post at 10:00 a.m. from August 6 – 15.
Ironically, my 2019 calendar for daily post scheduling arrived in the mail, just this afternoon 🙁
